EXTRACT: The New Organic Revolution
In my final year of high school, I had decided that I could become a teacher because education and learning are the most essential cornerstones of life for the continuation of the human race, the survivability and sustainability of society.
At the finish of that school year, my good friend convinced me to join him in studying for a Degree as a Medical Doctor as I had enough marks to do that.
My Mother was pleased, as she had been through the grief and heartache of being with her son, my little brother, at the age of 7 months, when he passed on from this world with acute bacterial meningitis. This happened all within 24 hours.
I was 10 years old at the time, and after school each day I was riding my bicycle, delivering medicines from the local pharmacy to those in need who had no transport.
After graduating as a Medical Doctor, I did hospital residential courses, learning about obstetrics, paediatrics, emergency medicine and anaesthetics.
The University courses covered sickness, disease, curative medicine and surgery, and the History of Medicine, including famous quotations from the Greek Philosopher, Hippocrates, the so-called Father of Medicine.
Hippocrates taught that the first and foremost principle of medicine must be to respect nature’s healing forces which inhabit every living organism. “Help, and do no harm.”
One of the teachings that I believe was and still is missing from the standard Western Medical Degree course is the increasing knowledge of natural medicine, and the effects of good nutrition on the human machine.
“Do good, and do no harm.”
Natural Medicine is in many cases referred to as “Alternative Medicine” when in fact, the “alternative” was normal, before the invention of man made drugs and laboratory invented pesticides.
Integrative Medicine is a combination of natural medicine and the newer “orthodox” medicine of the present. Integrative Medicine is in common usage by the longest living, healthiest people on earth.
Similarly, the term “Conventional Farming” (Industrial Agriculture) is a misnomer - a century and a half ago, farming was literally Organic !
150 years ago Food was REAL FOOD, with ZERO man made chemical pesticides, NO added hormones, NO added antibiotics and NO genetically modified organisms.
It is NOT conventional to add toxic pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics and untested genetically modified “science.”
